Gene Kwon Examines Why Shipping Performance Requires More Than Fast Delivery

by Binarynewsnetwork

Salt Lake City, Utah, November 4th, 2026, ZEX PR WIRE, Gene Kwon, a Salt Lake City-based entrepreneur and Co-Founder of eHub, is highlighting the need for businesses to take a broader approach to evaluating shipping performance. While delivery speed remains an important consideration, Kwon believes businesses should also examine reliability, communication, and how effectively shipping processes support their overall operations.

For companies that depend on shipping to serve customers, the fastest delivery option does not always provide the best operational outcome. A shipment that arrives quickly but requires extensive manual intervention, creates unexpected costs, or generates customer service issues may introduce problems elsewhere in the business.

Gene Kwon’s experience developing businesses across different industries, including his involvement in shipping and logistics through eHub, has informed his interest in how companies evaluate operational performance.

“Speed matters, but it shouldn’t be the only thing a business measures,” said Kwon. “You also have to consider whether the process is reliable, whether customers know what to expect, and how much work is required to deliver that result.”

Looking Beyond Delivery Times

As businesses manage shipping across multiple providers and service levels, measuring performance can become increasingly complicated.

Delivery times provide useful information, but they don’t necessarily reveal the full cost of a shipping operation. Businesses may also need to examine shipment exceptions, customer inquiries, billing accuracy, and the time employees spend resolving problems.

Kwon believes evaluating these factors together can help organizations identify weaknesses that might otherwise remain unnoticed.

A shipping process that requires frequent manual corrections, for example, may be less efficient than one with slightly longer delivery times but fewer disruptions.

The objective is not to reduce the importance of speed. Instead, businesses can benefit from understanding how speed fits into the broader customer experience and operational requirements.

The Role of Consistency in Customer Expectations

Customers increasingly expect clear information about their orders and dependable delivery estimates. When those expectations are not met, the consequences can extend beyond the shipment itself.

Customer service teams may need to investigate delays, explain tracking discrepancies, or coordinate replacements. These activities require time and resources that are not always reflected in basic shipping performance reports.

“Customers need to know what they can expect,” Kwon explained. “A company that consistently delivers on a realistic commitment can create a better experience than one that promises more than its operation can reliably support.”

For businesses evaluating shipping solutions, this places greater importance on the quality of operational information and the ability to identify recurring service issues.

Using Better Information to Evaluate Shipping Decisions

Technology has made it possible for companies to access more information about shipping activity, but having more data does not automatically improve decision-making.

Businesses need to determine which measurements are useful and how that information should influence their operations.

For example, reviewing delivery performance alongside exception rates and customer support demands may provide a more complete understanding of whether a particular shipping arrangement is working.

Kwon sees practical value in examining how different measurements relate to one another rather than treating each performance indicator separately.

His experience as an entrepreneur and involvement with the Package Shippers Association have kept him connected to conversations about the operational needs of businesses that depend on shipping services.

A Broader Definition of Shipping Performance

As businesses continue evaluating shipping technologies and service providers, Kwon encourages greater attention to the operational demands behind each delivery.

Reliable processes, realistic customer expectations, and useful performance information can help companies make better decisions about the services they provide.

For Kwon, the question is not simply how quickly a package reaches its destination, but whether the entire shipping process operates effectively for the business and its customers.

“Businesses should understand what it takes to deliver the service they’re promising,” Kwon said. “When you look at the full process, you can make more informed decisions about where improvements are actually needed.”
