The Best Blazers for Women

What are the best blazers for women right now? For work, we’re especially interested in blazers that earn their place in your wardrobe as separates — whether you’re keeping one at the office or wearing it on repeat with your favorite pants.
Below, we’ve rounded up some longstanding editorial and reader favorites, from investment blazers with distinctive tailoring to affordable options. We’ve also included where to shop for petite, plus-size, and tall blazers, along with options for different seasons and needs.
We’ve been covering women’s workwear on Corporette since 2008, and reader discussions have helped shape these recommendations over the years. We don’t all agree on every blazer — and we’ll tell you where opinions differ!
Looking for a matching jacket and pants or skirt? Head to our roundup of the best suits for women. We also have roundups on petite suiting, tall suiting, plus-size suiting, maternity suiting, and more.

Quick Blazer Questions
How to Pick a Blazer to Wear as a Separate (Or Find One to Keep at the Office)
If you want a blazer to wear with non-matching black pants, texture is your friend: look for tweed, bouclé, linen, or velvet. Smooth black suiting fabrics can look like an almost-matching suit… which you want to avoid. A basic black suit jacket is easier to wear with something clearly different, like denim.
If your blazer has matching suiting pieces, dry clean them together so they wear evenly.
How to Wear a Blazer With a Winter Coat
My preferred method: when coat shopping, bring a blazer with you, and consider sizing up — you need room through the shoulders and sleeves. Hold your blazer cuffs as you slide your arms into the coat to keep them from bunching up.
Alternatively, keep a blazer at the office, or wear a roomy wrap over it when the weather allows.

Great Blazers We Love
Cinq à Sept

Cinq a Sept’s Khloe blazer has always been an easy separate… if you like the signature ruched sleeve look. It can be slightly tricky to layer with (both with coats and tops), but it’s been a bestseller for years and still comes out in a lot of fabrics and colors. I particularly like the bouclé tweed versions if those work for your weather. It’s around $395 full price, but I have seen it on some pretty good sales.
Favorite Daughter

Favorite Daughter’s popular blazer with sweater cuffs has had mixed reviews from readers; some think it’s ugly but I personally really like the look. It definitely has cool weather vibes, though, which can limit it.
Rag & Bone

Rag & Bone’s Slade blazer has been around for years. It’s one of the softest blazers you can buy, often literally when it’s made in a knit. Right now there are lots of colorful options in mostly ponte, but there are still some wool options around.

Veronica Beard

Veronica Beard’s dickey jackets are a modern classic, and they’ve reintroduced millions of women to the concept of dickies — zippered inserts you can add or subtract to your blazer, allowing you to change the look, add warmth, and more. (Dickies are also fake collars to wear under sweaters.) Her jackets aren’t cheap, though; they’re often around $800.
(Quince does have a dickey jacket dupe, for what that’s worth!)
Smythe

If you want to splurge on a classic blazer, Smythe has always been one of our favorites for classic blazers with a bit of personality. (It doesn’t hurt that they’ve been a favorite of Kate Middleton!)
Smythe blazers tend to be around $750, with some a bit more, some a bit less; they’re available in sizes 2-16. You can find them for sale at spots like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and of course the Smythe website.
McQueen

I’ve loved this sharp-cut McQueen blazer for years… it’s often part of a suit, but I feel like it looks great by itself. I’ve seen it in a bunch of colors over the years, too. I love the slanted pockets and strong shoulders with the otherwise classic cut. It’s one of the most expensive blazers we love: it’s regularly over $2,000.

Affordable Blazers We Love
Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor’s Greenwich blazer is one of the few blazers that is easy to recommend as a separate because it (usually) doesn’t come as part of suiting sets. They’ve had seasonal fabrics, seasonal colors, and more. It’s usually around $200 full price, depending on the fabric (the suede version is $550 full price).

J.Crew

J.Crew’s best selling blazer has been around for a while now — it’s a classic, reliable style that comes out in new fabrics and prints each season. If you’re hunting for something seasonal, such as tweed or linen, this would be our first stop.
The blazer is $198 and comes in petite, tall, and classic sizes 000-24. (Some colors are on flash sale right now to $149, so they may be down to lucky sizes, but keep checking — they’ll be back.)
(J.Crew’s Going Out blazer just disappeared from the J.Crew website… but readers have said they still love it when we asked if the Going Out blazer was dated.)
J.Crew Factory

Shrunken, schoolboy blazers are less popular than they were a few years ago, but there’s still at least one reliable source if this is your preferred look: J.Crew Factory. The brand keeps coming out with schoolboy blazers in new patterns and colors, and you can currently find the look in a shrunken sweater blazer look, as well!
The blazer is available in petite and classic sizes 00-24; full price is listed as being between $135-$195 but you can often find the blazer 40% (or more!) off.
Cicy Bell
Best Affordable Blazer: Cicy Bell
This $50 blazer from Amazon seller Cicy Bell has been a reader favorite for a while now — it has 24,000+ good ratings, and comes in 21 colors in sizes XS-XXL. The list price is $71, but you can often find it on sale.
Nice things to note: It’s fully lined, has functional flap pockets, and can be worn in a ton of different ways; readers note that it’s “very stretchy” and not tight at all. As one reviewer notes: “Perfect for a corporate job! Single button and breathable. Definitely a must for an office wardrobe.”
Where to Shop for Blazers In Your Size
Where to Find Petite Blazers
Ann Taylor is one of the best spots if you’re looking for affordable blazers for petites. If you’re hunting for petite suiting for women, some of our other favorites include Banana Republic Factory, CK Calvin Klein, Hobbs, and J.Crew. If you’re hunting for very small petite sizes, try Aritzia; if you’re hunting for larger petite sizes, try Talbots or Lane Bryant. (We get into more subcategories and options here.)
Where to Find Plus-Size Blazers
If you can swing it, Marina Rinaldi and Lafayette 148 New York would be some of my top choices — but they can be really expensive. (You MAY still be able to find some Vince blazers in plus sizes.) More affordable options for plus-size blazers include Estelle, Eloquii, Universal Standard, Nic & Zoe, Talbots, and Vince Camuto, — and don’t forget that a lot of blazers at J.Crew and J.Crew Factory are now available up to size 3X. If you’re hunting for plus-size petites, Lands’ End and Talbots are two of the most reliable stores we know of, but check out our full list of plus-size petite workwear here.
(Hunting for full suiting? Here’s our full roundup of plus-size suits.)
Where to Find Tall Blazers
Long Tall Sally is one of the best options here, but there are a few more specialty stores of note if you’re hunting for workwear for tall women, including Alloy Apparel, Amalli Talli, American Tall, and I Love Tall.
Other spots to look for tall blazers and other tall workwear include Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Banana Republic Factory, Boden, J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, J.Jill, Lands’ End, and Loft.

Do You Need a Maternity Blazer?
Usually, you do not need a maternity blazer. In fact, if you’re looking for a great maternity blazer… you may be looking a while. Depending how you carry, you may be able to wear your regular blazers (or a regular blazer a size up or two) on top of a regular dress or outfit, and that should be appropriate for most circumstances. (After all, by the time you’re likely looking for a maternity blazer, you’re visibly very pregnant.)
Wondering where to find interview suits if you’re pregnant? We rounded up the VERY few options for maternity suiting! Favorite brands in 2026 include Seraphine (also at Nordstrom!), Marion Maternity (also at Nordstrom), Légoe Heritage, and Hatch — also keep an eye on Emilia George and Figure8. J.Crew Factory, and Lands’ End may have maternity pants to match non-maternity blazers.
